1. Download and Install Windows Server 2019

You can download Windows Server 2019 through Microsoft’s website. There are two options for downloading, ISO file or server VHD.

2. Setup Disk and Image

After downloading the files, you need to create the installation disk or image for the OS. If you choose ISO, burn it to a DVD or USB drive and boot from it on the target machine. If you choose VHD, mount it to your machine using Hyper-V and install from there.

3. Setup Server 2019 without GUI

When you boot into the installation, you will be presented with two options – Command Prompt Only, or Server with Local Admin Tools.

4. Setup Windows Server 2019 with GUI

If you have purchased the full version and are interested in using it for local development purposes then select “Server with Local Admin Tools.

5. Configure Your Server

After you have finished installing Windows Server 2019 you will need to change a few configurations before you can use it.
